Kathleen Finlay
For our 25th wedding anniversary, we spent a long and wonderful weekend in Montreal. I need to capture all of our favorite spots there, but a highlight was seeing this beautiful painting in the window of a gallery.
We ended up going back and the artist, Kathleen Finlay, was working at the gallery that day. She was so lovely and didn’t even tell us right away that it was her painting but we were so glad she did. We were heading to our anniversary dinner that evening which ended up being a favorite of hers - so nice to connect with people in this way when you’re traveling.
I was fortunate to grow up in a home with a lot of art - oil paintings, in particular. And, throughout my adult life, I appreciate being surrounded by meaningful objects - art in many forms. For me, this painting evokes not only the beauty of the work itself but also our interaction with Kathleen and our anniversay trip overall.
She was kind enough to make recommendations for framing and a few months after we returned home, we had it framed locally at Pennington Custom Art Service.
